We are a self funded charity made up of fantastic volunteers dedicated to the Prince of Wales Park. We meet twice weekly on a Wednesday and Saturday morning at 9 am for half a day. Tools are provided, Each session has a first aider and a Site Manager to organise the session.
Our grant from Bingley Town Council proved enough to install railings in several areas of the park. But we had spare money after the work was done! Following discussions with the Council and our railings contractor GG Fabrications the Friends were able to use the excess money (with a small top up from Friends funds) to add an extra, long needed set of railings. The area chosen was the slope leading up to the T room area. And what a lovely job our contractor has done. Well worth a trip to the park to see.
The work round our pencil pines on the broad walk is now complete. But our friends at the Otley and Yorkshire Dales Dry Stone Walling Association are not done yet. They have generously agreed to take on the mammoth task of fixing the rather dilapidated perimeter wall round the edge of the park above the College entrance. If you are interested in their work click below.
Yes Christmas is over and it's back to work. But it is not all doom and gloom as we now have our very own Happy Bench. If you just want a chat and are in the park, say hello to anyone sitting there. Or, fancy a chat yourself? Go along and see who turns up.
This is in addition to the Happy Benches already in Gilstead. A great idea the Friends are happy to support. Where is the Park Happy Bench? Halfway up the tarmac path. Go on! You know you want to find it and have achat!
